Historically, Texas wildlife rehabilitators have been prohibited from accepting red fox, gray fox, or coyotes for rehabilitation unless specifically requested by law enforcement authorities. As of March 31, 2013, this restriction has been lifted. Effective January 16, 2021, Texas Parks and Wildlife regulations have been revised to include bobcats as a protected species for which a permit is required. Since many Texas rehabilitators have little or no experience in working with these species, Bat World Sanctuary has partnered with Wolf Creek Wildlife to define best practices.
